About

YourAfricanAdventure.com is the blog of Chance of a Lifetime Travel Limited, better know as COLT.

We are a small company, with unique experience in the fields of voluntoursim in Africa, educational expeditions, gap year travel and of tailoring an African expedition for individuals or groups of all ages.

First camp in BotswanaWe are the African adventure specialists.

A proud boast – but let’s put some facts to the claim. You need to feel comfortable that the people taking your booking know what they’re talking about. You don’t want to be dealing with a company that started doing African travel yesterday!

Director Paul Davies has lived and worked in Zimbabwe and has also led expeditions to Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Zambia.

At the moment Paul is employed as Head of Biology with an independent boarding school in Cambridge, UK, so if you’re involved in researching school trips to Africa you’ll appreciate that there is probably no-one in the country who is better equipped to help you.

Lion rehabilitationOur other directors and staff have similar experience. We don’t just look in a brochure and read it out to you, our people are frequent visitors to Africa and have evaluated and helped organise both voluntourism projects and expeditions. We count many of the people in these countries as not just business colleagues but as friends.

It’s that kind of intimate knowledge that we use to create your ideal African experience. It’s those close relationships that will ensure you are treated almost like one of the family.

Whether you’re a gap year student wanting to help orphaned children in Botswana, a teacher trying to find an African travel company with the qualifications necessary to arrange a school expedition, or a small group of friends who want to help with the conservation of African wildlife, we can get you where you want to go.

Your African adventure isn’t quite like popping on a plane to the Costa Del Sol for a week though. There may be areas that you may not have come across before. That’s what we’re here for. We’ll work through every detail with you so you know exactly what’s going on at all times.

We’ll discuss availability, costs, accommodation, visas, immunisation, etc. Flexibility is a speciality so ask, let’s see what we can sort out for you.

Are you involved in education? Do you need us to come and present to students, staff or parents? No problem. Concerned about numbers, logistics, risk-assessment, activity authorisation forms, indemnities? In Paul Davies we have probably the only teacher in the UK who runs and organises African expeditions. You simply cannot find someone better qualified.

We hope by now you’ll get an idea of how special our service is. You might be surprised then to discover how competitive it is. Taking care of you is our number one aim but we also take care of your budget. Whatever kind of African adventure you’re searching for we not only guarantee to make life that bit easier for you, we also guarantee we’ll do it for less than any other quote you receive.

So there you have it. An unsurpassed level of experience and ability, and we’ll even save you money!

We look forward to hearing from you.

volunteering in AfricaOur Partners:

The leading organisation responsible for volunteering in Africa is African Impact and we’re proud to have been working with them for some considerable time. There’s quite simply nobody better to work with on the ground in Africa where it really counts.

We’re also delighted to support The Happy Africa Foundation, a UK based charity founded in 2007 to empower the African people through the support of community and conservation based initiatives that operate at grass roots level.

We are proudly affiliated to the UK-based Know Before You Go campaign that promotes education and knowledge-sharing amongst travelers.
